François Legault’s Caquist government announced last week that it was breaking its “moral contract” with Quebecers and would completely ban gatherings during the holiday season in the red zone.
Considering that Christmas is the perfect time for Quebec families to come together, celebrate and share
Considering that the overwhelming majority of Quebecers have complied with health guidelines in an exemplary manner since the beginning of the crisis
Considering that the magic of Christmas for children is sacred and that they suffer especially for 9 months
Considering that the benefits of confinement are increasingly disputed, while the effects on mental health are increasingly harmful
We call on François Legault’s government to allow Quebecers to celebrate Christmas:
1. To allow Quebecers to celebrate Christmas by allowing them to meet at ten at two events between December 24 and 27 as originally planned in its “moral contract” with the citizens of Quebec;
2. To trust the intelligence of Quebecers to celebrate Christmas while doing what was necessary not to expose themselves unnecessarily to the risk of contamination;
3. To issue a directive to police forces asking them not to unduly monitor, but instead to raise awareness among Quebecers during the holiday season and to issue infringement notices only as a last resort;
4. To suspend the social distancing between children during the holiday season in order to allow them to properly socialize with their cousins and friends.
This petition will be presented to Prime Minister François Legault.
Help us put pressure on the government by signing this petition now.
Together, we can save Christmas!
